My Two Sons

Two posts in one day! Woo-hoo, I'm on a roll! Nah, I just forgot to add pictures.

Kiddie update: Nathan's vocab is growing every day. Yesterday he was brushing his teeth & I walked in to brush my hair (we were going to Bible study) he looked at me, touched my sweater and said, "Mom, so pwetty". My heart just melted. Micah is our bundle of joy. I'd say 'little' bundle of joy, but 'little' he is not :) He's growing & getting cuter every day. He is 9 weeks old and smiling all the time. Danny has one song he sings and no matter the situation...Micah stops crying or eating to smile & coo at him. Kids are fun...we had a rough start with Micah not having a schedule and he still doesn't, but we have at least figured out how much he wants to eat and a little cereal before bed & suddenly the world is not upside down anymore. Enjoy the pictures!

Seasons Greetings

During this time of year there is so much to do with family, friends, & church gatherings, so we want to thank those churches that make us feel extra special every year on top of their own busy-ness. There is a church in Tyler that sends us a little Christmas package every year (also all of our birthdays), a church in Wyoming that sends an envelope FULL of Christmas cards, and a church in College Station that remembers me at my birthday/Christmas time and sends me a piece of jewelry every year, and a couple more who have sunday school classes that sign a card and tell us we're being prayed for during this season especially. We can't tell you how much that makes our day to have the mail man ring our door bell to deliver a package or find cards in the mail box. Nathan loves opening up the boxes, so funny how he knows that it's a gift. Thank you so much!

Motorcycle Ride

A few nights ago, we all went out to the mall to do some Christmas shopping. Outside of the mall they have a small Christkindelsmarkt. As part of the Markt there is also a train that kids can ride. After we had finished shopping , we took Nate outside and let him ride the train. He was so excited. He ran directly to the motorcycle car. I buckled him in and he immediately began pushing buttons and revving the engine with with the faux accelerator on the handlebar. As Krista and I watched him go round and round the track, grinning from ear to ear, I leaned over and told her, "It's times like these that I love being a parent." It was so fun for me just to stand there and watch him having fun. I'm sure that those who have been parents for a long time can relate and hopefully it gives those who haven't something to look forward to. Have a great one!

My Dad

On Tuesday of this week I got a phone call from my Mom saying she had taken my Dad to the ER because he thought he might've had a mild heart attack that morning at the house while my Mom was at work. Needless to say how the emotions started flowing! I thought though for the longest time she was talking about my Grampa (her dad) because his health isn't good and we're just waiting for that phone call, and the phone connection was breaking up, but she said they just called my Dad's name over the PA system to triage and she couldn't find him (she parked the car after she dropped him off)....that's when it hit me... something about this conversation is off... Who is at the hospital and why is she talking about Dad? I felt like I had been slammed into a wall. Now I know exactly what my parents were feeling when they got phone calls when they were in the Philippines. I knew it was hard as a kid to hear Grandparents were sick, but now it's MY parents and I can't be there to help or comfort.

So... my Dad had tests and a surgerical procedure done yesterday (Wed.) and yes, he DID have a mild heart attack. One of his right valves were 80% blocked, they put a stint in and he's doing better. There was some damage and some 'abnormalities' in his left valve. His blood pressure medication is possibly what brought all this to light... and a blessing that is then because they wouldn't have found the blockage. He's only 52, works out, runs, etc. However, he does have to make some diet changes.

Now with Christmas almost here what a way to make the family time more real. I wish I could be there with them... my brothers, their wives, and my granparents will all be together this Christmas day. I know I am where God wants me, but it stinks sometimes. Sorry to be so blunt, but I'd be lying if I said things were always just easy going and we never felt anything while living here away from family and good friends. So keep us in prayer, my dad & mom, other missionaries who are dealing with a lot worse family health issues, or have kids in college and can't celebrate the holidays with them (I've been there too). Danny & I would rather be in God's will, on the other side of the ocean... than next door and out of His will.

Hug your families and be thankful for them... especially if you're blessed to live near them.

Danny is taking me to dinner and has already made plans for a sitter...what a guy! I absolutely love these 2 pictures... our boys have changed our lives to the point we don't know how we ever lived before!! We are so blessed.
