Craziness!

I have been reading the news on the internet the last few days of the woman in Texas who was found hanging in her closet with 4 of her daughters (the 8 month old was found still breathing and seems to be doing well according to foxnews.com). I can't hardly put to words how upsetting that is to me. On one hand I am SO very angry that any woman would dare hurt a child... A CHILD?!?! Then I'm saddened by the fact that this woman must not have had anyone to go to for help, encouragement, or prayer. I really don't know what to say, except that I am in awe of how a human can react to life.

Spelling & German

So I'm sitting in class and we're writing sentences in all sorts of different grammatical ways. I need to know the word "shade" in German. I went to the English portion of my dictionary and would you know... it's not there! I couldn't believe it. Now how was I supposed to write this sentence if I didn't know an important word to make my point?!? So I erased it and picked another topic. Suddenly it hit me (after all the erasing). In English we don't spell "shade" with a 'c', duh! In German most words that have the 'sh' sound are spelled 'sch'. I was searching for "schade". Ohhhh...my head hurts. Don't worry... "shade", if spelled correctly IS in the dictionary! Just thought you'd like to know how my brain was working after 4 hrs. of class and still 1 hr. more to go. It's been a long day so I'm off to spend some time with my boys before bedtime and then homework. Have a wonderful day!!

PS-the German word is 'Schatten' in case you wondering :)

Happy 3rd Birthday!

On May 20th, Nathan turned 3 years old. We had a great weekend. Danny, Nate, Micah, & I were able to spend a wonderful family weekend together. We all had so much fun being together. Nathan ate up all the attention and.... cake! The weekend was quite eventful too. Friday night Danny was at a Bible study and Saturday night I was able to invite a friend over for supper and afterwards we ended up reading 3 chapter of John!! Keep praying for us, God is enlarging our territory. We want to be wise and ever conscious of His blessings and the opportunities. Enjoy the pictures from Nate's day!

The Goose-Bump/It's a Small World Moment

If the title makes no sense to you, please read Krista's post from the 25th of April. As Krista wrote in that post, we had the privilege of helping to host the Singing Men of North Central Texas on April, 24 as a part of their concert tour in Austria and the Czech Republic. Before their evening concert in Graz, some of the men formed small ensembles and sang on the streets in the downtown district to promote the event. I served as a guide for two of these groups. I was speaking with the men from one of these groups as I lead them to the area where they would sing. It was nice to speak with folks from back home. A man named Mark asked me where exactly in Texas I'm from again. I told him Sulphur Springs (not many people know where Flora is). He said, "Really, my grandfather used to pastor in Sulphur Bluff" (which is a little more known than Flora -- by ten or twelve people). I asked what his grandfather's name was. "Maurice Hill," he replied. That is where the goose bumps came into play. I told him that Bro. Hill was my pastor when I was a little boy. Our family attended Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church up until I was in the 7th grade. (In fact the church faithfully supports our current ministry in Austria today). I have many great childhood memories from my time growing up there and it was really exciting to meet someone who also has ties to the church. I just never would have dreamed of meeting him here in Graz. It guess it really is a small world after all. Have a great one!

Danny
