Soup in a Bread Bowl

I read The Pioneer Woman's Blog... her food just looks so yummy!  She takes a picture of every phase of the cooking and so it's really hard to mess up when you also have a visual. I've tried many of her recipes and they have been kid & hubby approved at our house.

A couple of days ago she blogged a soup/bread bowl recipe and though I didn't have time to make the actual recipe (but I will..... it looks delish!) I still wanted to try out the concept with the boys.  My boys eat just about anything you put in front of them. Nate has a few things (yogurt, spicy stuff, broccoli) he just won't eat... he's tried them and still can't do it (and that is ok. Our rule is; try it and then if it's still a no-go then the taste-testing is done). Micah is funny.... the couple of things I can think of right now that he doesn't like are what I always thought were your average kids "likes".  But our sweet Micah.... well, he goes against the "average" kid apparently. His few dislikes are Pizza and Mac n' Cheese and he eats yogurt and muesli, fruit and veges every day.  Gracie... still loves to eat what you put in front of her.

So here is my 'cream of vege soup in a roll bowl'. I sliced off the top, took out the bread inside (and I put those chunks in a bowl for Gracie with soup. If I gave her a bread bowl she would've played with it instead of eating it!). The boys thought I was giving them a roll with a spoon and just looked at me like I had lost my mind... then Nate took off the top and both boys thought the idea was so cool.  Yup.... got my kids approval that day.
