Happy Birthday!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU -HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU -HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR...

DAD

&

ZACH-- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOOOOOU!"

We love you both so much!

Yes, faithful readers--my dad and brother have the same birthday. I don't have an overly recent picture of the 2 of them together but here's one from about 3 years ago. Dad is a young.... well, hmm.. he's got stuff on me so we'll keep his age to ourselves ;) Zach however, is 25 and 2 months away from being the Daddy of a precious baby girl :) Yea!!

Puzzle Time

Nathan has found a new interest- puzzles. He can sit at the table for hours just singing and chatting away with whoever is in the room. I love watching him work... Nate has his own way of working thru the pieces. It's not how I would've done it--LOL! He likes it when Danny or I help him... well, I know it's really our attention he wants because he ends up telling us where to put this piece or that piece, etc. :)

Hope you had a great weekend. Our Bible study went great and we've grown in the last 2 weeks! It's always exciting to see how God brings people together.

Props go to...

...Danny!!! Just wanting everyone to know the hard work my hubby has put into updating (I call it 'decorating') our blog page. He's working on some more stuff... we'll let you know when and where. Of course, we found this blog design idea somewhere else but he had to put it together and add other doo-dads for me. haha Either way he's been working around the clock for our home church and their website(S) and on top of all the daily stuff and ministry studies as well. So, hopefully this will all be done and of course it'll look great. Life has been hectic and busy, but the good kind :)

Thanks, Danny (aka: Babe)

One little heartbeat at a time

I had this nice 2 paragraph explanation of how I felt regarding life some days and how much I appreciated this song... and well, I think the song does much better than I at getting the point across. So to all my mommy friends-- you're changing the world. One little heartbeat at a time.

One heartbeat at a time
Steven C. Chapman

You're up all night with a screaming baby
You run all day at the speed of life
And every day you feel a little bit less
Like the beautiful woman you are

So you fall into bed when you run out of hours
And you wonder if anything worth doing got done
Oh, maybe you just don't know
Or maybe you've forgotten

You, you are changing the world
One little heartbeat at a time
Making history with every touch and every smile
Oh, you, you may not see it now
But I believe that time will tell
How you, you are changing the world
One little heartbeat at a time

With every "I know you can do it"
Every tear that you kiss away
So many little things that seem to go unnoticed
They're just like the drops of rain over time
They become a river

And you, you are changing the world
One little heartbeat at a time
Making history with every touch and every smile
Oh, you, you may not see it now
But I believe that time will tell
How you, you are changing the world
One little heartbeat at a time

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
How you're changing the world
You're changing the world

You, you are changing the world
One little heartbeat at a time
Making history with every touch and every smile
Oh, you, you may not see it now
But I believe that time will tell
How you, you are changing the world
Oh, I believe that you
You are changing the world
One little heartbeat
At a time

And you're changing the world

A trip down memory lane...

Recently some old friends from high school have been posting old pictures of our younger days and I'm about to start working on scanning some old ones too. Here is one that was emailed to me awhile back. It was 'Spirit Week' and if I remember correctly each day had a theme. This particular photo captures 'Retro day'. All the girls in this photo are dear friends of mine. We've stayed in contact and are enjoying keeping up with each other's lives. Let's see if I can give a run down of each of us....

L-R:

Debbie is currently living in Israel with her hubby where he is working with Intel. They are expecting their first baby-yeah!!!
Kelli lives in PA. and is a mommy to 2 adorable kids. Her & her hubby work with the youth at their church and she is a gifted musician.
me
Charity lives in WA. (right?? I know they moved..but can't remember if it was houses or states) and has 4 beautiful kids. They are active in their church.
Christine lives in Texas. Her & her hubby (who I've known since diapers) are working with Manna. They have a handsome little boy too.

It's great to see God working in our families and that thru technology we can continue to be a part of each others lives though oceans separate us.

I miss you girls and am thankful for your friendship all these years!

A tribute to...

...that old red car and Nate's love for it.

The scene: Nate walking into the living room with Micah's toy piano and then beginning to play a song.

"Mom, this is a song about my red car we found in Slovenia yesterday." (pounding on piano began and the sentence that I just typed was sung).

If you've been reading our blog for long you know that Nate is obsessed with our old red station wagon. We sold it to another family (Brinlee's) that are ministering in Slovenia. We went to visit them yesterday and he flipped out with excitement when he saw it parked in their driveway.

Nearly every week we have some kind of discussion regarding this vehicle (by the way, we sold it in JANUARY!!!!!!). He askes when Danny or I pick him up from school if we've come with his red car. He tells us to sell our blue car to the Brinlee's and buy our red car back. Nate says his favorite color is red, not blue, the red car is newer than the blue car (this is his argument the reality is the red car is nearly 14 yrs. old and the blue car is 4 yrs old) and etc. He was quite upset when we sold it. We can't think of what makes him so attached to it. However, the older he gets we noticed that he dislikes change more and more. Comes with age and territory I guess. Part of me feels sad for him and the other can't help but smile when he starts talking about his love for that car :)

This is a picture the day we bought the red car in 2004:

This is Nate nearly 5 months old riding in the red car:

Nate not overly thrilled with our blue car back in January:

Spring Time!

I think Spring is officially here... last week there were snow flurries, but we've had more spring-like days and it's just beautiful outside.

Micah is 18 months and loving exploring outside. While I pulled weeds I had to continually tell him that the flowers are supposed to be there!

Nathan will be 4 next month and reminds us nearly every day. He's already planning the party he wants for school. We had a meeting this week with his teacher and we discussed some of the adjustments that he's had and how he's dealing with them. The language barrier is really bothering him. He tells us he doesn't really understand his friends. That just breaks my heart because Nate is such a social person. You can tell it frustrates him. All in all though he likes school and his teacher said he's a joy and really good student. Please be in prayer for little guy.

There she goes....

A few friends of mine have sent me this video and I can't say I was shocked that Oprah is promoting this stuff. I'll admit that in the past I've watch "Oprah" and been touched by the building of a home for a family that was desperately in need or families being reunited for the first time, or all the babies born to a couple and being given years of supplies, etc. But this is ridiculous. Danny nor I have ever been fans of the person, Oprah, for many reasons and so it's been years since we've watched her show. This is just another reason on our list. So I write that to say, Be discerning of what we allow into our homes.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

(to my non-US friends, this lady is a very popular/famous talk show host and very influential).
